Grand-Opening Luxury in Vietnam: Naman Retreat Da Nang

Welcome to the Cudo Travel Blog, where you can read first hand reports from our expert team of travel consultants, jam-packed with photos and real accounts. The blog has been prepared by travel experts who have visited the hotel.

Naman Da Nang

Our Travel Team is thrilled to bring you our tales and adventures form the exotic beaches and charming local townships of Vietnam – one of our favourite getaway spots on the planet. Perhaps one of Southeast Asia’s best kept secrets, the central coast of Vietnam is an absolute delight and serves as a holiday haven for international travellers.

Naman Da Nang

Our group was fortunate enough to stay at the brand new Naman Retreat Da Nang, a luxurious paradise where rest, relaxation and indulgence is always on the agenda.

The five-star Naman Retreat Da Nang is perfectly positioned between iconic sandy beaches (ranking amongst Forbes Magazine’s ‘Top Beaches of the World’) and the historical wonder of Hoi An Ancient Town (just 15 minutes away via car).

Naman Da Nang

This special Naman Retreat Da Nang grand-opening offer has been structured to allow travellers to choose whether they would rather stay in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) or Da Nang first (and travellers aren’t restricted, the package can be mixed in with other parts of South East Asia, like Cambodia or Singapore, or even taken on the way back from Europe or the US).

Quick tip – We chose to stay at Naman Retreat first, followed by two nights in Ho Chi Minh City at the five-star Eastin Grand Hotel Saigon. If you’re planning to do lots of shopping, it’s probably better to best to plan the Ho Chi Minh leg at the end of the trip.

But that’s enough rambling for now –keep reading to check out our account of our incredible Vietnam escape below!

The Arrival

There’s no better way to start a holiday than utterly stress-free. Naman Retreat had arranged handy return shuttle transfers from Da Nang International airport to the beautiful resort (just a 25-minute trip) and it really set the mood for a grand escape.

The Resort

The retreat is situated on a long stretch of white sandy beach – the kind of beach you could easily while the days away on, sipping pina coladas, and soaking up the afternoon sun.

Naman Da Nang

It is seriously nicer than anything we have experienced in Thailand, and although the beaches of Da Nang are fast gaining popularity, it is well and truly free from the throngs of people who descend on the overcrowded beaches of Phuket and Bali.

One of the best aspects about this stunning resort is the beautiful symmetry of its breathtaking ocean-facing infinity swimming pool – checkout that view!

The Rooms

The rooms at Naman Retreat are plush and inviting. Attractive furnishings work in tandem with a pleasant colour scheme and local bamboo and stone finishes to create spaces that both entice and relax.

Naman Da Nang

We stayed in both a Babylon Room and an upgraded One-Bedroom Pool Villa – just for that added touch of luxury!

Naman Da Nang

The Pool Villa in particular was simply stunning and featured a gorgeous private courtyard replete with plunge pool. Guests choosing to upgrade also receive a bonus USD$100 resort credit to use during your stay (not that you need any more incentive!).

Wine & Dine in Style

Food is a big part of any stay in Vietnam and of course Hoi An, which is universally regarded as the culinary capital of Vietnam.

Included in the offer is a mouth-watering daily buffet breakfast including a variety of Western and Asian cuisines.

Naman Da Nang

We chose something different each day, ranging from fresh fruits to a fantastic egg station where you can select from styles like sunny-side-up to scrambled and everything in between. Try challenging the chef by coming up with different ways to have your eggs cooked!

Naman Da Nang

We were also treated to two lunches and two sumptuous beachfront dinners featuring authentic local cuisine.

Naman Da Nang

While Hoi An itself is famous for its food, we found we ate most meals at the resort as the food was extraordinary and prices very reasonable (especially by international western standards).

Spa and Pampering

We couldn’t speak highly enough of the in-house Pure Spa at Naman Retreat. Each emmber of our group enjoyed a daily 30-minute spa treatment ranging from massages to beauty regimes – the spa itself was pure relaxation and the treatments were excellent, leaving us feeling utterly refreshed and appropriately pampered.

Naman Da Nang

While you might find more inexpensive options in Hoi An town, we loved the elegance of the in-house spa, and it’s a lot easier than having to travel for a massage.

Resort Facilities

The five-star treatment continues with Naman Retreat’s on-site facilities, encompassing the Pure Spa, four dining and bar options, plus a host of resort activities from hiking and biking to yoga and fishing.

Naman Da Nang

But hands-down, our favourite place to hangout was undoubtedly the sun-soaked beachfront and the central infinity swimming pool.

Visiting Hoi An Town

Naman Da Nang

The Naman Retreat is located near the famous city of Hoi An. Known as the culinary capital of Vietnam, and it’s a must-see location if you ask us. You can catch a free shuttle bus from the resort to Hoi An (it takes about 15-minutes). Hoi An is famous for its food and cooking schools – we did a one day course, but regretted not taking a longer course as we picked up lots of fantastic tips. There are literally hundreds of little restaurants and bars in Hoi An… far too many to visit them all, but we’d certainly suggest making at least two trips in.

Moments down the road in the UNESCO Heritage-Listed site of Old Town of Hoi An, you can visit the markets filled with fresh local produce too.

Part Two: Five-Star Eastin Grand Hotel Saigon

Staying in one luxury hotel is great, but staying in two luxury hotels is just grand. Vietnam has a lot to offer, so we also spent three nights in the bustling metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City at the luxurious Eastin Grand Hotel Saigon (formerly known as the Mövenpick Hotel Saigon).

Naman Da Nang

You can take this part of the trip before or after your stay at Naman Retreat Da Nang as you please.

Combining five-star luxury with Vietnamese hospitality, the service, facilities and rooms at this hotel were nothing short of magnificent. It offers 268 well-appointed rooms and suites, including 34 connecting rooms.

Our Deluxe Room was equipped with an LCD flat screen TV with cable entertainment, a choice of king or twin beds, modern amenities and ultra-stylish design with exotic touches. There was also Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the hotel for extra convenience.

As part of our stay, we even received exclusive Executive Floor Benefits including Club Lounge access, canapés and stayed looking our best with the opportunity to have our clothes laundered daily.

We weren’t sick of eating yet, so we also hopped around the five restaurants and bars at Eastin Grand and sampled the tempting fare on offer. On the second evening, we visited the hotel’s renowned Slate Bar for a nightcap and took our time picking with more than 30 varieties of martinis made-to-order. There’s also a pool, gym and spa to use if you have time between exploring the city.

Ho Chi Minh City

A focal point of the bustling Phu Nhuan District, the Eastin Grand Hotel Saigon is a 10-minute drive from Tan Son Nhat International Airport and just a quick taxi ride from the city centre.

There, we explored the real heart of Vietnam with its vibrant culture, dark history and a colourful mix of the old and new. We recommend taking in the sights and sounds of Vietnam’s amazing capital with a visit to the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels (crawl through, if you dare), Reunification Palace, the War Museum and plenty of amazing markets.

So Pack Your Bags for Paradise

Surprisingly, flying to Vietnam didn’t cost a small fortune with Vietnam Airlines offering reasonable fares. The luxurious Naman Retreat Da Nang Resort and Eastin Grand Hotel Saigon not only met but exceeded our wildest expectations with ease. So, what are you waiting for? Start planning your exotic Vietnamese escape now!

“The Naman is absolutely beautiful and feels very in touch with nature. We had the most romantic stay and enjoyed every minute – especially the beach! The villas are bright, comfy and gorgeous. The service is very professional and friendly – very high quality, especially compared to other places we’ve been in Vietnam. Would highly recommend!”

‘Great place to relax’

Five out of five stars – Reviewed 26 March 2015

“As it is quite a new resort on the Da Nang/ Hoi An strip, it was not very busy and just the relaxing time we were looking for. Great pool and pool bar area … I think the villa room was my favourite, very open, spacious but still private. Definitely worth a stop in.”
