Thai Paradise: The Seven Wonders of Anantara Si Kao Resort & Spa

Welcome to the Cudo Travel Blog, where you can read first hand reports from our expert team of travel consultants, jam-packed with photos and real accounts. The blog has been prepared by travel experts who have visited the hotel.

Anantara Si Kao

Our Travel Team has spent an extensive amount of time in Thailand and we are all well-accustomed to the tourist hot-bed of Patong, but there’s so much more of Thailand just waiting to be uncovered. Discerning travellers seem to be forgoing the usual getaway spots in favour of lesser known locales like Khao Lak and Koh Samui which guarantee peace, relaxation and serenity.

For those of you looking for pure tropical indulgence and beachfront tranquillity, Thailand’s southern provinces of Trang and Krabi offer untouched paradise where guests can unwind along the dazzling Andaman Coast.

Anantara Si Kao

We were fortunate enough to experience this pristine oasis for ourselves with a seven night stay at the spectacular Anantara Si Kao Resort & Spa – a lavish beachfront haven that will leave you utterly spellbound…

The Location

With miles of white sandy beaches, crystal clear turquoise waters and a sublime tropical climate, Si Kao is one of Thailand’s best kept secrets. Situated approximately 3.5 hours south of Phuket International Airport, this charming province is a breath of fresh air compared to the more commercialised tourist hubs most overseas visitors are familiar with.

A big part of Si Kao’s tranquillity can be attributed to the sprawling grounds of the Had Chao Mai National Park which is a stunning natural canvas thriving with a plethora of native wildlife and flourishing local flora.

Si Kao is also home to one of the world’s most iconic waterfront views with spectacular limestone islands rising up from the Andaman Sea like mythical sea creatures from long-ago legends and fables.

Upon arriving at Anantara Si Kao, we immediately knew we were in for a treat as we bypassed the intricate fountain standing proudly in the driveway and meandered over to the lobby to check-in. After a warm welcome, we were shown to our rooms and our Andaman Coast adventure was truly underway.

We even indulged in an upgrade by spending a couple of nights in a Deluxe Seaview Room – featuring spacious interiors and the added bonus of a private balcony that grants one of the best resort room views we’ve ever had the joy of experiencing.

Dining

We were treated to satiating island fare during our time at the resort and the food was so good, more than one member of our Travel Team had to invest in a larger pair of board-shorts!Anantara Si Kao

Each morning, we tucked into a delicious daily buffet breakfast featuring traditional Western favourites and authentic Asian delights.

We also sat down for a mouth-watering three-course Italian dinner for two at the in-house Acqua Restaurant, as well as a tantalising multi-course Thai dining experience showcasing local dishes including satay chicken skewers smothered in peanut sauce, stir-fried crispy duck, sticky mango rice pudding and more.

As part of our package, we were invited to take part in a half-day Trang Market Tour which additionally presented us with opportunities to sample the local cuisine. During our five-hour escapade, we tasted some incurable food including a traditional dim sum brekkie, fresh fruit from the market and even found time to stop in a 40-year-old cake shop.

After our tour, we returned to the resort for an instructional group cooking demonstration for two led by one of Anantara’s finest chefs, who taught us how to make veggie spring-rolls, Thai green curry and classic banana fritters.

An evening of sunset cocktails and canapés also made for a nice finishing touch.

Relaxation is always on the agenda but there’s so much more to see and do at Anantara Si Kao Lak with a wide-ranging selection of resort activities to enjoy (additional costs may apply).

Jump on one of the resort’s traditional long boats for a sightseeing cruise, embark on a hike through the majestic national park, or head out to Anantara’s very own private island beach club for an afternoon of uninterrupted peace and quiet.

A plethora of water-sports are also at your disposal with snorkelling, diving, kayaking and much more to choose from. No trip to Si Kao is complete without venturing into the cobalt waters of the Andaman Sea and witnessing the abundance of marine life and submerged technicolour coral constellations.

TripAdvisor Reviews:

‘Fantastic family destination’

Five out of five stars – Reviewed 16 April 2015

“Visited Anantara Si Kao for a week break, it’s located next to a national park and is quiet, beautiful and tranquil. A fantastic hotel that caters to families with children, with lots of activities for them to take part in & also great food to match. Staff are great and management are always visible. Bunty and Torgrim are so friendly and always happy to help, even with the smallest detail. During our break, we did the Emerald Cave boat trip – great experience and the island we spent the day on had the cleanest, clearest, most beautiful water from the beach out that I’ve ever seen. A big thank you to Dylan and his team for a relaxing and fantastic week.”

‘Amazing stay’

“We had 5 nights at The Anantara Si Kao at the beginning of March and absolutely loved it. Whether you are travelling as a couple, family or just own your own I would highly recommend this hotel. There is a large pool for families plus another adults only pool with great views of the sea. The rooms were beautiful with a great bathroom. Staff were great too, especially Nee and Mae and the chef who served us some yummy Thai dishes! We also took a trip to Koh Mook which was fabulous as well as going to the private beach club on Koh Kradan. Would definitely go back!”
