Welcome to the Cudo Travel Blog, where you can read first hand reports from our expert team of travel consultants, jam-packed with photos and real accounts. The blog has been prepared by travel experts who have visited the hotel.
The members of our Travel Team once again packed their bags for an exotic escape to parts far and wide. Their mission: to provide you, our valued readers, with the inside goss on some of the world’s most incredible resorts and holiday destinations.
This time, the gang has an absolute Thai stunner to tell you all about and it all begins in the picture perfect playground of Phuket.
Phuket has long been one of Australia’s favourite getaway spots, known for its spectacular scenery, stunning tropical sunsets and crystal clear cobalt waters.
Nestled amid lush tropical gardens and just a short stroll from the pristine sands of Karon Beach (considered one of the most scenic locations in Phuket), you’ll find the magnificent Mövenpick Resort & Spa Phuket – one of Thailand’s most iconic holiday resorts.
Located just a 10-minute Tuk Tuk ride away from vibrant Patong and a stone’s throw from the golden shores of Karon Beach, the iconic Mövenpick Resort & Spa Karon boasts 250 elegant rooms and suites that speak of Thai-inspired sophistication.
The Mövenpick brand is famous the world-over for their decadent sweet treats including premium ice-cream and signature chocolates – Mövenpick resorts effortlessly enchant guests with that same expectation of indulgence so it’s no surprise that the sprawling Karon establishment is highly rated on TripAdvisor with a 2015 Certificate of Excellence.
As expected of a five-star property boasting the Mövenpick name, the on-site accommodation is suitably impressive and encompasses plush suites to spacious villas.
Our Travel Team was lucky enough to experience a few different room types, including the stylish Superior Rooms which feature modern Thai-inspired décor across 36sqm of space. Amenities include a king-size bed (or twin bedding), a private balcony or terrace granting gorgeous tropical views of the surrounding gardens, and handy mod-cons including air-conditioning, a 32-inch flat-screen TV, jam-packed mini-bar, complimentary tea and coffee, plus more.
We can also highly recommend the Garden Villa (boasting a gorgeous private tropical terrace), as well as the Plunge Pool Villas with your very own swimming pool to enjoy at your leisure.
At one stage or another, I’m sure every one of us has indulged in some Mövenpick wickedly satisfying Mövenpick chocolate or ice-cream. Those with a sweet tooth are sure to celebrate the resort’s signature daily complimentary Chocolate Happy Hour – a chance to tantalize your tastebuds with an array of sweet treats amid the luxe environs of the Lobby Lounge.
The Mövenpick’s dedication to decadence doesn’t end there though, with four enticing in-house restaurants and three bars waiting to entertain your senses.
We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner daily as part of our stay. Take your tastebuds on an exotic journey to Brazil with Churrasco-style fare at El Gaucho and dine on delights such as pulled chicken and wild rocket salad with gorgonzola dressing; or why not try some of the finest traditional Asian cookeryin town at OrientAsia with options like southern-style Masaman beef curry with sweet potato and steamed rice; or dine alfresco at MINT and enjoy dishes like Jerk chicken with crispy plantain chips and mango avocado salsa.
Apart from relaxing and gorging on mouth-watering cuisine, there’s plenty to see and do on-site at the resort. Guests are welcomed to enjoy four swimming pools, a well-equipped gym, the Play Zone kids club for the little ones and so much more.
Those seeking some pampering are sure to be suitably impressed by the in-house Spa – where you can enjoy eight 30-minute spa treatments with options like traditional Thai massages, foot reflexology, and exotic oil massages.
So much more than just a giant of the ice-cream industry, the Mövenpick brand offers top-notch accommodation and first class service in some of the world’s most spectacular locations and the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Karon Beach Phuket is no exception.

“My husband, son and I stayed here in early August and really enjoyed our stay. The grounds of the hotel are simply beautiful and lovely for a wander through, day or night. We spent each day chilling out at the pool, which seemed to offer something for everyone – slide, shallow areas, swimming areas etc. We liked the hotel’s policy of removing towels people had abandoned for longer than 20 minutes, as it was always easy to get a lounger. Our room was a good size, with a nice balcony. It was clean and fresh and the bed was large and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was impressive … There was a fabulous selection and it all tasted really good. I had a facial at the spa, which was wonderful. I would highly recommend it if you’re treating yourself! Thank you to all the staff, you’re doing a great job!”

“Resort is big, clean, and very close to the beach. Professional and eager to help staff. Three pools and Restaurants offer great variety of foods, and yes, the buffet breakfast was the icing on the cake.”
