Where to Find the Best Easter Show in Your City
No matter if you’re a kid or a kid at heart, Easter is always a fun time of year. For little ones, there’s showbags from the Easter Show, egg hunts, visits from a certain bunny… And as for mum and dad, when else do we get a free pass to eat as much chocolate as we could possibly want?
While Sydney gears up for the annual Royal Easter Show, the rest of the country would be forgiven for feeling a little left out. However, you may be surprised to learn that there are plenty of Easter fairs, fetes and festivals running around the country, so no one has to miss out! Here are our favourites.
Gather those little chocoholics of yours and head north to Michelton for the annual North Brisbane Easter Festival. This free event runs on 19 and 20 April from 10am to 7pm at Wests Mitchelton RLFC, just over 20 minutes from the CBD.
Young ones can enjoy twice daily Easter egg hunts, face painting, inflatables, a petting zoo and plenty of games, while not-so-young ones can kick back, listen to live music and sample the festival’s food trucks.
The original and the best, there’s nothing quite like the Sydney Royal Easter Show! Now in its 196th year, this iconic event brings a little taste of the country life to all us city-slickers.
There’s more than enough to keep both parents and children happy, with showbags, animal competitions and petting zoos, woodchopping demonstrations, rides, show jumping, whip-cracking and so much more. Check it out from 12 to 23 April at Sydney Showground!
Although not an Easter show per se, Canberra’s Great Easter Egg Trail is always an egg-citing experience! Held every year at the Museum of Australian Democracy, this fun event is free for under-18s and just $5 for adults.
Kids and big kids alike can choose from four trails that will take them through Old Parliament House, following clues and solving riddles. At the end, they’ll be rewarded with a delicious choccy treat! There’s also plenty of other activities and games to keep the whole family happy.
This Easter long weekend, treat the family to a day at the Melbourne Easter Show, coming to Cranbourne Turf Club between 19 and 22 April. Entry is free for kids and just $5 for adults, with Easter egg hunt tickets only $10 per child.
