The school holidays have sneaked up on us once again, and while the kids are rejoicing, the rest of us are in panic mode trying to come up with ways to keep them busy. Sound familiar? Relax! We’re here to help with six school holiday activities that even mum and dad will enjoy.

Whale Watching

‘Tis the season! Treat the little ones to a sight they’ll remember forever as they bear witness to the giants of the sea migrating north to breed, then returning to the south to feed. Check out your nearest whale watching spot here, or take in the sights from the best seats in the house onboard one of our whale watching cruises!

Baking

Channel your inner Mary Berry or Paul Hollywood and show the kids just how fun baking can be! Find a kid-friendly recipe for their favourite sweet treat (or let them pick their own) and help them bring it to life. Not only is it a great educational experience, giving them the chance to decorate their creation will bring out their artistic side.

Ice Skating

Instead of shying away from the cold, embrace it with the ultimate winter activity, ice skating! They may have tried rollerblading before, but ice skating is a great (and fun!) way of challenging them. Who knows, they could just discover a brand new talent! Check out our range of ice skating deals here.

Arts and Crafts

Sometimes the classic school holiday activities are the best! When it comes to arts and crafts, the possibilities are endless, but we’ve got a fun idea to start you off. All you’ll need is photos from your last family holiday, an empty scrapbook, some decorative paper, stickers, kid-safe scissors and glue. With this, they can create their own personalised holiday scrapbook – the perfect keepsake to remember their trip!

Bowling

Let their competitive side shine through with a game of ten-pin bowling at your local lanes. Want to make it even more interesting? Winner has to do the dishes for a week! Otherwise, if knocking over pins isn’t your thing, embrace your inner retiree and try your hand at lawn bowls. Who knows, the kids could end up giving grandma and grandpa a run for their money! Click here to see bowling deals on offer near you.

Scavenger Hunt

Remember doing these when you were a kid? Give your little one the same thrilling experience of ticking those items off the list with a scavenger hunt of their own! You can write your own list and instructions, but if you don’t have time, there are plenty of print-at-home kits online. We love this one, which even includes instructions for making a cute mobile with the collected items!
